I have decided to write this post to tell you a bit about the Update that recently happened to my blog. If anyone has been here for more than a few months, you would have seen a few changes happening to my blog, but the changes I have made this time are by far the most drastic so I thought I better share with you what really happened…
Setting Up Steph’s World
As you may already know, I started blogging in March 2016 and decided to jump right into the deep end. I set up blog within a few weeks and got to work writing pre-done content which I could upload every week.
I didn’t really have a main focus for my blog and decided to just write around for main area’s, where were: Theatre, Baking, Beauty and Days Out Ideas. I knew that I wanted to do a Monthly Favourites & Overview as well, but if you read my April Favourites and my latest June Favourites posts, you will see there is a lot of change. My March one was like a little story of my life compared to the latest ones.
As I jumped into the deep end of blogging, I knew nothing about the blogging community and twitter chats and if I’m being honest here, I hadn’t really read a blog apart from the big Vloggers & Bloggers. I didn’t know what a blog should look like or anything surrounding blogging. I thought learning on the job may be the way forward, but I have my doubts with both ways of doing your research and also just jumping in. I guess it is personal preference.
Anyway, for the first two months I decided to set myself a schedule which went in the pattern of: Theatre Review, Baking, Days Out Ideas, Beauty. I found this useful as I had already written and scheduled these posts so I could then dedicate more of my blogging time to Social Media and making improvements to my brand & blog.
Work In Progress
My blog was a constant work in progress. I have been playing around with logo’s like a yo-yo and been trying to fine-tune that brand that I long for. My Instagram account was a bit all over the place at the beginning of Steph’s World. I just couldn’t fine-tune my preferences and couldn’t think of ways to actually use it as a tool to promote my blog. I think I was frustrated with it really.
Over on Twitter, I started following lots of bloggers from all over the world and took inspiration from their blogs and Social Media pages. I read up on good tools for bloggers to use and also noticed that people where getting involved in Twitter Chats. I decided one day to join in and be the newbie, and I loved it. I have found so many lovely friends through the chats and they have been on hand to offer support with my blog and also given me inspiration.
I then wanted to try and put my blog into a specific category and knew that I didn’t want to just focus around one of my four main areas. I then realised that my blog is more representative of a Lifestyle blog and decided to re-brand.
Over the past few months, I have been trying to find my writing style, the way I like to set up posts and also try to refine that brand once more. Then June hit! I decided that Rose Gold for my blog just wasn’t me and it all felt a bit bold for my liking. That’s when the re-brand came…
Steph’s World Re-Brand – June 2016
Since I set up my blog, I was having trouble with my loading speed. It was so slow compared to other blogs and I just wasn’t happy about it. After numerous messages going to numerous people, my Boyfriend discovered it could be my theme which was the issue. I came back from work one night and my blog was down! What?
My Boyfriend, who is the one who helps me with my blog had downloaded me a new theme and was installing it onto my blog. Phew! All was not lost. This theme was one from Etsy and was more multi-functional which is great.
I decided then that the Rose Gold needed to go. However much I (and bloggers everywhere) love Rose Gold, it just felt too bold to be my colour on my blog. I opted to go for blue as it is my favourite colour and was more of a calmer colour to reflect the mood I wanted to give out from my blog. Also, it’s Summer and I think my blue now is more of a Summer colour.
I saw this transition time as a chance to re-brand my blog too. I set to work about finding how I wanted to present my cover photos on my homepage and also wanted to reflect this theme onto my Instagram. As you can see below, the image on the left is from my Instagram in March 2016 and the right is from my Instagram in July 2016. I think it is more softer and reflects my blog now.
What you can find on the new Steph’s world:

Future of Steph’s World
This is still unknown as of this date. I’m not sure where I see Steph’s World this time next year, but I am forever trying to work on my blog to make it reflect me more. I think it’s really important for a blog to actually show the person behind the blog. I know it is difficult as I never show my face on Steph’s World or on my Social Media pages, but if you fancy it, you can add me on Snapchat and I sometimes pop up to say hi.
Have you ever had a re-brand?
I know that re-branding is a scary experience. I was so panicky all the way through the weekend that I made my drastic changes. As they say though – “A change is as good as a rest”. I did find the change to be refreshing and has given me more motivation.
Have you ever done this? Let me know in the comments below…
