Firstly, I cannot go on into this months overview without paying my respect to the innocent people which we lost in the Manchester terrorist attacks this month. I feel this loomed over the UK for weeks (rightly so), but the support the UK – especially those in Manchester, offered was heartwarming. I know some Bloggers also offered their homes, food and taxi services to those caught up in the attacks, and to them, I say a massive thank you. You put hope back into our hearts!
May has been a strange month – we have had up, downs, rain, sunshine, and it has been filled with mixed emotions.
What has happened this month:
- Been out with friends for a couple of meals – including a Frankie & Benny’s Breakfast just the other day.
- I took a week off work – which is currently going on, and I’m loving it!
- Got involved in the Summer Party at work which included big deck chairs, inflatable bouncy castle and games and surfing machine, as well as amazing food and ice cream 🙂
- Helped my Boyfriends Sister and her Boyfriend with their new house. Their New Home Gift Hamper I made them can be found on my blog.
- Visited Tilt in Birmingham – A Bar/Cafe with Pinball machines! It was amazing and so much fun!
- I joined up to do Race for Life in July.
- Finally got my hands on the Fleur de Force Mac Lipstick. I had so many problems as my order didn’t go through and I never got told! I contacted Mac and they sent me out a free Prep & Prime which was lovely of them. I then saw Fleur put out a tweet saying Selfridges in Birmingham had 20 left, so I called them up and they posted me one out, along with some samples. So a massive thank you Mac and Selfridges!
Monthly Favourites // May 2017
Film – Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 & Passengers
So 2 films I loved this month was Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 and also Passengers. If you read last month’s Monthly Favourites, you will know that we hit a wall when we went to go and see Guardians of the Galaxy at Everyman Cinema in Birmingham. On the same day, the Birmingham Run was taking place and we couldn’t make it to the showing on time 🙁 We did make it a week later to the also great Electric Cinema and it was brilliant! It was super funny, engaging and you really got to know the characters more. I love Baby Groot!
The second film I loved was Passengers – which we picked up in Birmingham on Blu-Ray. As a disclaimer, I pretty much love any film that is set in Space, so I knew I would love Passengers. The film was brilliantly made and you go through a rollercoaster of emotions such as joy, pain, hate and happiness. I really enjoyed it.
TV Show – Riverdale & Bob’s Burgers
Riverdale, Riverdale, Riverdale…where do I start? I tried to watch the series a couple of months ago and just couldn’t get into it for some reason. After 13 Reasons Why came to an end for me, I knew I had to look for something to fill the void, that’s when I tried again with Riverdale and got hooked. It is more aimed to those in their 20s I think and it is a murder mystery. Full with twists and turns, I really enjoyed the series and can’t wait for the next.
Bob’s Burgers is not something I expected to like. It reminds me of The Simpsons, so I had mixed feelings. I am watching it on Now TV, so can only get the latest episodes (season 7), but it is so funny and just easy to watch.
Music – Hard Times, Despacito & Malibu
Paramore // Hard Times
I was never a fan of Paramore when they were around when I was in school. No idea why, but it just missed me. I however love this song and find it has such a catchy beat that I could not stop listening to it all of May.
This song is so much fun and great for the Summer Heatwave which we have been having in the UK 🙂
Miley Cyrus // Malibu
Not a song which I actually expected to be by Miley, but I actually love it.
Beauty – Too many to list…
My name is Steph, and I have a makeup addiction!
This month I have been very bad when it has come to saving money and spent so much on new clothes and beauty products. I’m sorry to my bank balance!
I have done a post about all the products which I have been loving this month, including some throwbacks from last Summer 🙂
Shoes – TOMS // Beige Lexie Sandals
This month due to the sun being out I actually realised how many sandals I have which are not falling apart at the seams – 2. Therefore, I had to make a purchase of some sandals which will last me as well as go with any outfit, this is where these TOMS come in.
I fell in love with these sandals as soon as I saw them. I thought they would be great at home as well as work and would look great with dresses and jeans. They are more expensive than I would usually buy, but I see them as an investment.
Food & Drink – Cheesecake
I have always liked Cheesecake, but this month it has been my go-to dessert. I recently had a Lotus caramalised cheesecake from the local restaurant and my gosh, it was amazing! I really want to make my own soon – if you have a recipe, please send me the link 🙂
Place To Be – Bridgnorth
Bridgnorth to those who have never heard of it, is a village not too far from where I love. It is so cute and quirky with high street shops, castle ruins, churches and amazing architecture. It also has a cliff railway as the main town is based up the top of a massive hill – which I tend to walk up – as there are great cafe’s there and you feel you deserve a great Scone after the walk haha.
