Steph's June Monthly Favourites

May Monthly Favourites and Overview

Hi Everyone, and welcome to my Monthly Favourites for May. Just where has the month of May gone? Soon it will be the Summer. I mean proper Summer, not this mini on-off heatwave that we are experiencing in the UK at the moment.

Anyway, this month hasn’t really been that full of fun and adventure like some months bring, but here are a few of the things I have been up to:

  • Seen Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
  • Booked my flights for my Summer holiday (finally!)
  • Visited Worcester for the first time as an adult
  • Watched the Eurovision Song Contest
  • Started to do some more baking again. All thanks to the blog and wanting to create more easy recipes, and also due to the amazing inspiration I see on Twitter & Instagram

May Monthly Favourites

TV Show – Modern Family

I started watching Modern Family after a friend of mine recommended it to me over a year ago, but I couldn’t get into it as the thought of having to catch-up with 7 series was daunting. This month I thought I would try it again, and I am addicted! I love the characters in the show and the way they all connect to be one big family. If you haven’t seen Modern Family, I recommend it. It’s a great show to put on in the background and you don’t have to watch it intently.

Film – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

Ok, I know that I am really late to the game here, but I was recently told to watch The Hunger Games series and when I saw the blu-ray set on offer; I knew it was time. One weekend in May I watched The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I love the way these movies have you gripped from the begging and the whole aspect of the films. They show class systems of the Districts and Captial perfectly and the use of colour and cinematography is truly spectacular. I can’t wait to have chance to watch Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 soon.

Music – Poli Genova – If Love Was A Crime

Well it was only right that Eurovision Song Contest (ESC aka my favourite day of the year) was in May, so my song choice of the month had to be a song from the contest. One of my favourite songs from the night was from Bulgaria (Poli Genova – If Love Was A Crime). At first I wasn’t phased by it, but one day I found myself randomly singing it. Since then, I have never looked back. This song is infectious….love it!

Musical Soundtrack – Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat

I went to see Joe McElderry and Lucy Kay in Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Words cannot explain how good it was, but I will try and piece some sentences together and do a blogpost on this very very soon. If you are planning to go see this show or thinking about going, keep a look out on my blog for the review.

Beauty – Clinique: Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick

I did a blogpost all about this product which went live on 30/05/2016, so head over to that post to see my pros & cons of the Chubby Foundation Stick.

Shopping – House of Fraser

I haven’t really done much shopping this month, not even for make-up. I know, what’s wrong with me? The only place I have really been to recently is House of Fraser as it’s only a 5 minute walk away from my work, and they have had some crazy sales on which is always great. I picked up 2 skirts the other week, they were 70% off with an additional 10% off even sale items. Now that is amazing!

Place To Be – Worcester

As I said earlier, I hadn’t been to Worcester since I was a child (now I’m in my early 20s) and my boyfriend took me as it was a car show that was going on in the streets around Worcester. It was lovely to see all the cars you know now and where they came from. The shops around Worcester are so lovely to and the layout is a bit like London, not the hustle and bustle but more that there are little shops hidden down little paths and it was a really relaxing shopping trip. Well worth a visit, especially when sunny.

Food – Hickory’s Smokehouse

Hickory’s really does need to start dishing out loyalty cards as I would be on my 10th free meal by now. Most weekends I rock up to Hickory’s for a breakfast, so much that I think I could tell you the menu inside-out. I went for an evening meal not so long ago, but as a non-bbq sause lover; there wasn’t much on there for me to have. Breakfasts are another matter all together though. I would go everyday if their food was calorie-free. I will need to do a blogpost on this very very soon. It’s overdue now really.

Did you do anything fun? Do you suggest for me to go anywhere and do a blogpost on it? Let me know over on my Social Media please.

  • Sarah Pears

Ah I’m so happy you love the Eurovision! It’s so rare for me to find someone who loves it as much as I do, and the songs really are catchy (even the rubbish ones too!!)

Thanks Sarah for your lovely comment 🙂 I know, everyone I know is not a fan of Eurovision, but I love the vibe of it all. Would love to go and see it one day.
