One type post and YouTube videos which I love to see are empties. These are a good way to see when someone has genuinely been using up a product to the very last drop and then give an honest review of that product.
I am one of those people who seem to get near the bottom of a product and leave it to one side as I don’t want to part with it. I’m looking at you the remaining 1cm of the Clinique Foundation Stick. So this year, I am making it my mission to use every remaining bit of the products I have (unless I seriously hate it or it doesn’t agree with me).
Throughout this post, I will be rating these empties as Hot or Not to show what I thought of the product.
My February/March Empties
Clinique: Superbalanced Silk Foundation // Hot
Everyone knows that I discovered Clinique less than a year ago, but I love the brand so much now. One foundation of theirs which I love is the Superbalanced Silk Foundation (a full review is on my blog) which I fell in love with instantly. I have been using this foundation for 5 months now and it has finally run out. I found it great value for money and lasts the full day.
Will I be purchasing it again? YES! I really want to try their new Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer which I currently have a sample of and love it.
One tip with Clinique is to always ask for a sample. 1, their foundations are expensive especially if you don’t use it and 2, my sample pot lasted about a month.
Clinique: High Impact Mascara // Hot
I have had 2 empties of the Clinique High Impact Mascara and will be heading back to grab another. This is Clinique’s best selling mascara and I know exactly why. It is just amazing! It gives me fluttery eyelashes, does not stick the lashes together, lengthens and gives volume to your lashes.
I have also had 2 samples of this mascara free with other products and they are a perfect travel size. Always ask for a sample if you can, it is worth it.
Lush: Big (Shampoo) // Hot
It’s not something I talk about on my blog (or at all really), but I recently had a issue with a condition which caused my hair fall out. I was gutted, and went through at least 5 different shampoos/hair products to try and prevent the hair loss and to stimulate hair growth.
I headed into Lush one day and they told me to try Big. Big has the strangest consistency of any hair shampoo I have ever used, but I really enjoy using it. The only way I can explain it is like the slime you saw on 90s kids TV with salt mixed in. The salt massages the scalp to stimulate growth and give volume and the wallpaper paste like slime has coconut oil in as well as other goodness to make your hair feel smooth and glossy.
Would I repurchase Big? I already have!
Lush: New (Shampoo Bar) // Hot
My everyday shampoo is now Lush’s New Shampoo Bar. Every time I wash my hair, I fall in love with this shampoo! Especially over Christmas as it smells 100% like every Christmas film should – Cinnamon!
I had my judgements about this product at first as I couldn’t see how it would work. The lady at Lush strongly recommended New to me to encourage hair growth as the cinnamon and peppermint combination has been known to encourage hair growth for people who have unfortunately lost all of their hair through treatments.
I would say to purchase one of the Shampoo Bar tins though as this will prolong the life of the Shampoo bar. If you leave it in the shower and water hits it, your shampoo will be gone in the week. On average, mine lasts about 1-2 months (about 60 washes).
Would I repurchase? Already have. I am now on my 3rd bar of New.
Lush: Big Conditioner Bar // Not
After I loved Big Shampoo and the New Shampoo Bar, I knew I would love this Big Conditioner bar even after reading a few 1 star reviews.
Oh I was so wrong not to listen to the reviews. This Conditioner bar is the absolute worst! It was awful! I couldn’t get it to even move, it wouldn’t lather even a little bit and soon as I tried to put the bar to my head it felt like my hair was stuck to it.
I threw it in the bin after the second attempt!
Sure: Bright Bouquet Roll-on Deodorant // Hot
This is my go-to Deodorant which I love all year round. I find the formula not too sticky and dry’s really fast. It doesn’t leave any white marks and sorry for the TMI, but I find I don’t sweat half as much with this as I did with a spray.
I have used this for the past 2 years. It’s a keeper!
Soap & Glory – Scrub of Your Life // Not
I had run out of my usual Soap & Glory Body Scrub (Sugar Crush) and had this for Christmas in a gift box. I do like the product and it works well, but unfortunately it is very difficult to get the product out of the packaging. I will be swapping back to the tub body scrubs again soon.
Aussie: Miracle Hair Insurance – Leave-in Conditioner // Hot
I am going through a stage where I want the feel of a conditioner without using a real conditioner as they are making my hair too soft to style. This leave-in conditioner has been perfect and also it smells amazing. I love Aussie shampoo/conditioner and this is a great addition to my collection.
Would I repurchase? Big yes!
TRESemmé Heat Protectant Spray // Hot
I have been using this Heat Protectant Spray for years now and it never seems to go down, well until now. I love this spray, it does the job perfectly and smells great. It also dries fast so you don’t get the sizzle (we all know it) when it hits the straighteners. I use this spray before blow-drying or straightening my hair and it works great.
Would I buy it again? I would, but I saw their new Protect & Polish duo spray which I am planning on trying out next.
Antibacterial Hand Gel – Carex – Aloe Vera & Soap & Glory // Hot
In my opinion, everyone needs to carry around an Antibacterial Hand Gel. This month I have emptied 2 Carex (Aloe Vera) hand gels and a Soap & Glory hand gel. They both smell amazing and dry really fast. I carry one around in my handbag, one in my work bag, one on my work desk and one in my room (mainly for when I have Creme Eggs – I love the run up to Easter haha).
I’m off to stock back up.
