Welcome to day 12 of the Christmas Blogger Q&A. Today’s Christmas Q&A is with Sarah from Just Buttons Blog.
Just Buttons Blog
Hey! I’m Sarah and I’m the writer of Just Buttons Blog (www.justbuttonsblog.co.uk). I’m super excited to be back on Stephs blog this Christmas! I’m a Parenting and Lifestyle blogger and I write all about life as a first time Mum and everything that comes with it. If you pop on over to have a look at my blog you’ll see lots and lots of photos of my son, Oliver – I’m kind of obsessed with taking photos of him! If baby spam isn’t your thing I do write the odd few lifestyle posts for a mix as well.
Question 1 – What’s your Christmas tradition?
Before having our son, Oliver, we’d usually do either my parents or my husbands parents tradition. My family will always go for a long walk on a local beach Christmas Eve, which sounds weird at winter but there really is something beautiful about watching the sea at night when it’s cold. My husbands family will always watch Christmas films and eat McDonalds Christmas eve. We’ve yet to decide what we’ll do for our Christmas tradition. Oliver will be 17 months old this Christmas so he’s walking and (ever so nearly) talking, so he’ll be able to take part in a tradition with us.
Question 2 – What is your favourite Christmas indulgence?
Hmm…. I love candy canes and my Mother-in-laws mince pies… I have never been a fan of mince pies but when I spent my first Christmas with my in-laws I tried one of her mince pies and I loved it! I’ve been converted!!
Question 3 – What is the best gift you have ever received?
Gosh it’s hard to pick just one – I’m so grateful for anything anyone gives me! I think one that really stands out is a zoom lens for my DSLR camera from my parents. I’ve always loved photography and my parents got me the camera for my 18th birthday, but I was dying for a zoom lens to go with it. Usually I have an idea what presents I’m getting (as I’m older now so my parents never know what to get me), but they surprised me with this one and I was so happy!
Question 4 – Are you an early gift buyer or leave them to the last minute?
I’m a bit of both I guess… I’ve had about half of the presents bought since the middle of October, but no doubt I’ll leave the rest until last minute!
Question 5 – Do you have a favourite shop to buy gifts?
Ooohh, this changes each year! This year (I hope none of my family are reading this, but if you are, don’t read the rest of this sentence!) I’ve bought a fair amount from Whittard Chelsea. They have some amazing and delicious products!
Question 6 – Is there something which you always wanted for Christmas but never got?
I’ll be honest and say I really can’t think of anything.. I’m sure when I was a child there were probably things I wanted but didn’t get but as an adult I can’t think of anything as I don’t expect anything.
Question 7 – What is the most thoughtful gift that you brought someone?
These questions have made me realise I have such a bad memory, haha! Last year I bought my parents front row tickets to see Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time in the theatre. My Dad has always said amazing things about the book and my Mum loves the theatre, so I thought it was a good idea for a present. They’ve since seen it and loved the show.
Question 8 – If you could be in any Christmas movie, which one would you be in?
Oh man, Elf hands down! I love how happy and jolly Buddy is. I’d love to have him as a friend at Christmas!
Question 9 – What is your earliest Christmas memory?
This one is a hard one for me. My Dad has every single Christmas filmed and then put on DVD so I’ve watched each Christmas so many times, so it’s hard to know what a real memory is or if I can remember things from home movies! I think I can remember when I was younger I was dying for a Gameboy Advance. I used to always look and play with the presents under the tree to try and guess what they were. There was this brick like shaped box and I was convinced it was a Gameboy advance. My suspicions were correct and I did indeed get a Gameboy Advance! I was so happy I played with it nearly all day!
Question 10 – What makes Christmas special for you?
Spending time with my family listening to Christmas songs is my favourite thing about the festive season. I love making special memories, and this year is our first time hosting Christmas at our house, so I can’t wait to make new memories.
What exciting things have you got planned for 2018?
In 2018 I plan to keep on writing content that I really love. I finally feel like I’ve found a hobby that is ‘me’. I’m hoping to start a YouTube channel in early 2018 full of vlogs, sit down chats, hauls and random things about parenting, so if you stick around my blog be sure to keep an eye out!
I’d like to thank Steph for welcoming me back on her blog and I’m looking forward to reading everyone else’s answers!
